Transcription Slide 1: Hello! I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. In this video, I'm going to talk about my experience with the Progressive Snapshot discount program, and how I was able to save 11% on my auto insurance policy. Slide 2: For many drivers, Snapshot is a great way to save money on your auto insurance policy. However, I've noticed that a lot of drivers are hesitant to try it for whatever reason. So, I decided to be the guinea pig myself, and I just finished my six-month evaluation, and I want to tell you a little more about that. Just so you know I already had a Progressive auto insurance policy before I started the snapshot. However, this is available to both existing and new Progressive customers. Slide 3: It's very simple to know whether or not you're a good candidate for the Snapshot discount. All you need to know is the four things that Progressive uses to evaluate your driving habits. And what they like is low mileage. They like to see you drive your vehicle less than an average of 30 miles a day, or 210 miles per week. Also, what they don't like. They don't like you stomping on the brakes, stomping on the gas, or driving between the hours of midnight and 4:00 a.m. If you can keep your mileage low and refrain from doing those things, you're going to be an ideal candidate for the snapshot discount. Slide 4: So from the previous screen, you probably have a good idea whether or not you're a good candidate. To get started with the Snapshot program: If you're a current Progressive customer, all you need to do is give your agent a call. It only takes a few minutes to sign up. And after about six months, any discount you earn will be applied at your next renewal period. Now, for new customers it gets even better. You get a quote with Progressive and buy a policy. They will apply an initial discount just for trying the Snapshot. So for both existing and new customers it's very easy to sign up. Slide 5: There are two ways to install Snapshot. The most common way is to just install the device. Once you sign up, Progessive will mail you the device within a few days. You simply plug it into your diagnostic port and drive for six months. That's it! They will also pay to have it mailed back to them at the end of the evaluation period. And this isn't available yet except in a few states, but some of you have the option of installing a phone app instead, to where you just take your cell phone with you whenever you drive. Slide 6: As you can see here, the device is very small. Plugs right into your diagnostic port, which for most vehicles is located somewhere under your steering column. Slide 7: So here were my results at the end of the evaluation period. You'll see I did pretty well on most of them. High risk driving time (that's driving between midnight and 4:00 a.m.): Other than a couple late night fast food runs, I never drove between midnight and 4. So I did good there, only averaged a little over a minute per week. Miles driven: This is where I scored really high because I averaged less than 50 miles a week. Now full disclosure here: I do work at home and I live in a small town. So not having to commute to work and not having far to go really helps in that regard. Now hard breaking: I did get flagged with that quite a bit. I could have done better. Averaged a little more than once a week there. But I didn't get caught slamming on the gas pedal any. So I did very good there. Slide 8: So as far as savings, my premium dropped from 209 dollars down to 186 dollars, which saves 11%. 11% is a significant discount. Now, I drove a fifteen-year-old Chrysler vehicle and I only carry liability coverage on it. For those of you who have comprehensive and collision coverage on your vehicle, you probably have the opportunity of saving a lot more. Slide 9: OK. So, if you're ready to try Progressive snapshot out for yourself: As I mentioned before, if you're already a Progressive customer, just give your agent a call. It's real easy for new customers: If you live in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West Virginia, and would like a quote with Progressive, I'll be happy to help you with that. I provided a link on my website to get a quote. Or, I've also provided my phone number if you want to just get a quote by phone. Thank you for watching and have a great day!

Transcription Slide 1: Hello! I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. In this video, we're going to go over the coverages and features of Progressive Golf Cart Insurance. Slide 2: Progressive is great to have for golf cart policies for two major reasons. Number one is their low rates. And they offer many discounts to make the rate even lower. And they offer special coverages that most golf cart insurance companies will not offer. And we're going to get into those. Slide 3: The most common mistake people make when they buy insurance for golf carts is that they’ll insure their golf cart as an attached policy onto their homeowners insurance. And while this is simple and convenient to do, you'll find that many of these policies have unreasonable policy restrictions. And they don't always offer the basic coverages, let alone the secondary optional coverages. And so with a stand-alone golf cart insurance policy, nine times out of ten you're getting better coverage and offered more types of coverage. And the best part about it is, an attached and a stand-alone policy are both about the same price. Because just about all golf cart insurance policies are inexpensive. So it only makes sense to buy a better coverage for the same price. Slide 4: A good golf cart insurance policy at least should offer all five of the basic coverages. These are the same basic coverages you will see on an auto insurance policy. But the same applies to a golf cart insurance policy as well. If you don't see all five of these offered on your policy, that's a red flag! Make sure you see liability coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, medical payments coverage, comprehensive coverage and collision coverage. Any golf cart insurance policy worth its salt will have all five of those coverages. But like I said before, with Progressive, it's the secondary optional coverages they offer that set them apart from other golf cart insurance policies. And I'm going to get into a few of the major ones on the next slide. Slide 5: There are four main specialty coverages that Progressive offers that's worth taking a look at. Number one is accessory coverage. If you have comprehensive and collision coverage, you automatically have three thousand dollars of free coverage with accessories (that’s anything that you attach permanently onto your golf cart). And if you need to buy more coverage, you can. Carried contents coverage. That insures your personal property (for example, a set of golf clubs). You're going to find very few companies that offer this for a golf cart insurance policy. Trailer coverage. Many people haul their golf carts with a trailer on occasion. And you're going to find that the trailer coverage is very inexpensive as well. And finally roadside assistance. Now many of you probably just think of auto insurance when it comes to roadside assistance. But what if you break down far away from your home, or the country club on a golf cart? It's great coverage to have and very inexpensive. Slide 6: As I mentioned earlier, although golf cart insurance premiums are pretty inexpensive, Progressive can make them even lower by earning discounts. And they offer a lot of them. I don't have them all listed here, but I want to go over the six major money savers. For example, you earn a discount if you own your home. You earn a discount if you already have golf cart insurance. You earn a discount if you pay for the entire policy in full for a year. If you have more than one golf cart, you can insure both of them onto the same policy and earn a multi-vehicle discount. For those of you who already have an active progressive policy, with the golf cart insurance policy, you qualify and will earn a multi-policy discount. And finally, if you know exactly when your coverage ends, and you're wanting to start a policy on a specific day but get a quote from a few days earlier, you can also earn an advanced quote discount. Slide 7: For those of you who live in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West Virginia, if you'd like to get a golf cart insurance quote with Progressive, I'll be happy to help you with that. You can contact me in a couple different ways. You can visit my quote page on golf cart insurance and fill out a quote form. And I'll run your quote as soon as I get it. Or if you'd rather just give me a call, I'll be happy to run your quote by phone. Thank you for watching and have a great day! I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. And in this video, we're going to cover Ohio BMV Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Program. This is a new bill passed by Ohio law just several weeks ago. And if you look at the BMV website, the language they use is very confusing. This video is going to eliminate the lawyer talk, and simplify things to where you can understand it. Let's get started. Slide 2: This amnesty program is for anyone who has their Ohio driver's license suspended, and have been able to get their license back, but they haven't done so because they can't afford the license reinstatement fees. Slide 3: This program separates drivers into two categories: Those who can have their reinstatement fees completely waived, and those who can have their reinstatement fees reduced. For those of you who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, your fees will be waived completely. All others will receive a reduction in fees once you went 18 months past your suspension period. Slide 4: If I covered all the suspensions that qualify for this program we'd have a 30 minute video. And I'm trying to keep it short and simple. It's much easier just to go over who does not qualify. And that's anyone that has a license suspension that has anything to do with alcohol, drugs or weapons. But just about any other type of suspension qualifies. Also, be sure to note there's a July 31st of this year deadline to apply. If you apply after that, you will be denied. And this does not apply to anyone with a suspended commercial driver's license either. This only applies for regular driver's licenses or permits. And also, understand that you also have to jump through whatever reinstatement hoops besides the reinstatement fees, in order to get your license back. Slide 5: For those of you who would like to apply for this program: If you're just applying for the reduction only, you can complete this form online, in person at a license agency or by mail. For those of you applying for the complete waiver, you have to mail it in, and it must include documentation of your current case status with the Department of jobs and Family Services. Slide 6: I've posted two links for you here. The top link is if you want to apply online, and the second link is if you want to download and print out an application form. If you'd like to have an application form mailed to you, I've also posted the phone number and the mailing address to mail this application out. Slide 7: One last thing: Many of you will be required to carry an SR22 filing attached on to your auto insurance policy. I'll be very happy to help you with that. I've posted two links on my website that you can get a quote on: The top link is for those of you who own a vehicle. The bottom link is for those of you who do not own a vehicle. And if you'd like to just get a quote by phone, give me a call. I posted my number there at the bottom. I hope this video has given you a better understanding of how the amnesty program works. Thank you for watching, and have a great day! Related Blog Articles: Video: Can I buy SR22 auto insurance with a suspended license? Video: When does my Ohio SR22 Auto Insurance requirement end? Transcription: Slide 1: Hello I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. In this video, we're going to go over the features of Progressive Boat Insurance. Slide 2: There are two major reasons why Progressive ranks near the top of boat insurance sales. Number one: Low rates. Their prices are already low to begin with. Plus they offer many opportunities for discounts, which I'm going to get into here shortly. And also, specialized coverage offers. Progressive offers extra coverage options that are not offered by most other boat insurance companies. Slide 3: Progressive has a wide range of different types of boats they will insure. This isn’t an all-inclusive list, but it’s some of the more common: cuddy boats, runabouts, bass boats, ski boats, pontoon boats, yachts, jet skis, personal watercraft and sailboats. Slide 4: As far as coverage offers, Progressive has the same basic coverages that any good boat insurance policy should offer. Those include liability coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, medical payments coverage, and comprehensive and collision coverage. But it's the secondary optional coverages that sets Progressive apart from other boat insurance companies. So let's get into those. Slide 5: You want to take a good look at these specialty coverages because if you decide to choose any of them, you're going to be surprised to see that the cost is very little extra for what coverage you get offered. The newest addition is hurricane haul-out coverage. That's something they've only come up with recently. It reimburses you for 50% of the cost to haul out your boat due to severe weather. Accessory coverage: accessory coverage, that's anything attached to your boat. That coverage is actually free up to $3000 worth of coverage if you have comprehensive and collision coverage. And you have the option to buy more if you need. And Sign-N-Glide coverage: help comes to you if you are stranded on the water and you need gas, a jump start, or a tow. Slide 6: Propulsion plus coverage: that provides coverage for the lower units of outboard motors, and the upper and lower units the inboard outboard motors, in the event of a mechanical breakdown. And finally, trailer coverage and roadside assistance coverage. Both of them are offered at a very low price for the coverage offered. Slide 7: Finally, I want to go over Progressive boat insurance discounts. These can save you quite a bit of money. For example, if you own your home, have prior boat insurance coverage, or pay for your policy in full, you're going to get a big savings on any or all of those three. If you own more than one boat or watercraft, they also give you a multi-vehicle discount. And if you already have a policy with Progressive, they give you a multi-policy discount. Advance quote discount applies if you get a quote and buy a policy now, but the effective date doesn't start until a date in the future. Safety course discount: if you've recently taken a boat safety course, make sure you ask about the discount Progressive offers. And finally, original owner. If you bought your boat new, you get a discount. Slide 8: For those of you who live in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West Virginia: If you would like for me to personally run you a Progressive boat insurance quote, I will be happy to do so. I provided a link to my website quote page. I will also include that in Youtube under the description. And if you're watching this from my blog, I will have it posted right under the video. Or if you'd rather just get a quote by phone, I've also posted my phone number, and I'll be happy to help you over the phone as well. Thank you for watching. And have a great day! Transcription: Slide 1: Hello I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. In this video, we're going to cover FR44 Named Operator auto insurance policies. Slide 2: First let me explain what an FR44 filing is, and also what it does. Contrary to popular belief, an FR44 is not auto insurance. It's just a state filing that attaches onto an auto insurance policy. An FR44 is for drivers that have their license suspended and they're trying to get her license back. Getting this FR44 filing is usually the last step they have to take before their license is valid again. Slide 3: An FR44 is the DMV's way to keep dibs on you. They want to monitor whether or not you're carrying active coverage during the time you're required to have this FR44. And you're required to have double the state minimum in liability coverage. So in Virginia, that's 50/100/40 that you'll have to carry. The best way to think of how it works is what I call a tattletale. If you ever cancel, lapse or expire on a policy that has an FR44, the auto insurance company is required by law to tattle on you. Once this happens, they'll suspend your license again until you have another active FR44. And one thing Virginia is strict about, you'll probably also get hit with another reinstatement fee. Slide 4: Okay so now we need to go over the basics of a Named Operator policy. It's also known as a non-owner policy. And it's made for drivers who need auto insurance liability coverage, but they can't buy regular auto insurance because they don't have a vehicle to insure. This is where a named operator policy comes in. This is who this is designed for. And an FR44 can attach onto a named operator policy just as easy as it does a regular auto insurance policy. Slide 5: Coverage on a named operator policy is very limited compared to regular auto insurance, which is why it costs much less. Coverage is only on a secondary basis. In the event of an accident, regular auto insurance that the vehicle owner has is always the primary coverage. And there is no coverage whatsoever when driving a vehicle that you own or a vehicle owned by someone in your household. So make sure you're aware of that. A lot of people have been burned by it. And finally, only liability, uninsured motorist and medical payments coverage is offered on these policies. They do not offer comprehensive and collision coverage, which is the actual physical damage coverage on your vehicle. You won't have that with a named operator policy. Slide 6: Here's a common scenario that comes up: Let's say you already have a named operator policy and then buy a vehicle later on. How does that work? Well, you know you now need to switch to a regular auto insurance policy to have coverage on your vehicle. The good news about a named operator policy is it can easily convert to a regular auto insurance policy just like that. All it takes is a few minutes and a phone call your agent, and it'll be done. But make sure you do this before you start driving your vehicle. Slide 7: So I hope this Video has given you a better understanding of how an FR44 named operator policy works. If you would like me to personally run you a quote, I'll be happy to do so. I've included a link: if you're watching this from my blog, I'll have it posted right under the video. In this video, we're going to discuss Progressive Motorcycle Insurance, and what sets Progressive apart from other motorcycle insurance companies. Slide 2: Progressive is number one in motorcycle insurance sales. Roughly one in every three motorcycle insurance policies is insured with progressive. Two major reasons for that. Number one is low rates. They have low prices to begin with. Plus with the opportunity for discounts, they get even lower. And the second is specialized coverage offers. Progressive offers extra coverage options not offered by other companies. Slide 3: Progressive has a broad acceptance in the types of bikes they will insure. That includes cruisers, tourings, sport or performance bikes, trikes, dirt bikes, mopeds, ATVs and UTVs, custom bikes as long as they're not souped up or modified, and also classic or antique bikes. Slide 4: Just like all motorcycle insurance policies, Progressive also offers all your basic coverages: which is liability, uninsured motorist, medical payments, comprehensive and collision coverages. But what sets them apart again are the secondary optional coverages that are not found on many motorcycle insurance policies. Let's get into those. Slide 5: As far as specialty coverages, if you have comprehensive and collision coverage on at least one of your bikes, you get free accessory coverage up to $3000 worth. And the ability to purchase more if you need. Same goes for safety riding apparel coverage. You get free coverage up to $500 with the option to purchase more. Safety riding apparel are things like helmet, eyewear, jacket, things like that. And also, they offer enhanced injury protection in case of income loss or a death benefit from a covered accident. Slide 6: Other specialty coverages include carried contents coverage, which covers items you take on your bike such as hunting, camping or other equipment that’s associated with touring. And most bikes get hauled via trailer. Progressive offers very low prices for trailer coverage. So if you haul your bike, you definitely want to check out the price for trailer coverage. It’s very inexpensive. And also, it's worth taking a look at for roadside assistance and trip interruption coverage. Both offer very low price for the coverage offered. Slide 7: Now I want to go over some of Progressive’s discounts that I mentioned earlier. You get a nice discount if you're a homeowner. You get a nice discount if you have prior coverage with another motorcycle insurance policy. You get a nice discount if you can pay your policy in full upfront for the whole year. Other discounts include multi-vehicle, for those of you who have more than one bike to insure. Multi-policy discount, if you have another valid active policy with Progressive. Your bike can also earn discounts if they have anti-lock brakes or a LoJack installed. And drivers can earn a discount if they have a valid motorcycle license or an endorsement on their drivers license. And finally, advance quote. If you get a quote for a policy that's going to start in the near future, for each day you get a little bit bigger of a discount. Slide 8: So I hope you've enjoyed watching this video, and now you have a better understanding of why Progressive is the number one motorcycle insurer. If you'd like for me to personally run you a quote, if you live in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West Virginia, I will be happy to run a quote for you. I've posted a link to my website where you can get a quote. And if you'd rather just give me a call and quote over the phone, I've also posted my phone number. We're going to cover what is an SR22 filing, what an SR22 filing does, the type of insurance policy you need, and also help you find the best rate. Slide 2: First, let's cover the basics of what an SR22 filing is. Contrary to popular believe an SR22 is not auto insurance. It's just a state filing that attaches onto an auto insurance policy. What it does, it keeps dibs on you. It's a guarantee to the Indiana BMV that you're carrying at least state minimum liability auto insurance at all times. And when you buy a policy with an attached SR22, that’s usually the last step you have to take before you get your license reinstated. Slide 3: Here's how an SR22 filing works. When you buy an auto insurance policy with an SR22 attached, the company will notify the Indiana BMV electronically that you have taken out an auto insurance policy that contains at least state minimum liability coverage. And likewise, they also have to notify the BMV if you ever lapse, cancel or expire on a policy. So it's very important that you keep this active during the period of time that you're required to carry an SR22. Slide 4: The easiest way to understand how an SR22 filing works is to think of it as a “tattletale”. In other words, if you ever cancel or lapse on a policy that has an SR22 attached, the auto insurance company is required by law to tattle on you to the state BMV. And once that happens, your license will be suspended again until you either reinstate your old policy, or start a new one with another SR22 attached. Slide 5: It's very important that you set up an SR22 properly. And to do so is very easy: If you own a vehicle, you just need to attach your SR22 onto a regular auto insurance policy. If you don't own a vehicle, you need to buy what's called a Named Operators auto insurance policy. Either one of those policies, an SR22 can attach onto. But the frustrating part, as you see at the bottom, not all companies will write SR22's and not all companies will sell named operator policies either. So it gets a little frustrating. But I'm going to help you with that here in just a minute. Slide 6: I quickly want to cover SR50 filings because this will apply to some of you. Instead of being required to carry an SR22, some of you may be required to carry an SR50. An SR50 is unique. It was only for Indiana drivers. However, they did away with that several years ago. It's been replaced now by the SR22. But drivers who were charged before the law changed still get grandfathered into the old SR50 requirement. Just understand that if you need an SR50, an SR22 will work fine instead. Most companies won't even write SR50s anymore. So you just about have to take the SR22 instead of the SR50. But don't worry about it. It will substitute just fine. Slide 7: Now as far as finding the lowest rate, I know it can be frustrating. What I would suggest you do is find an independent agent that specializes in high-risk auto insurance. The companies that these agents carry tend to go easy on SR22's and drivers who have dings on their driving record. And the best thing is, you can get multiple quotes at once instead of quoting one company at a time. And if you would like for me to personally run you a quote, I'll be happy to do so. I will include links at the bottom of this page. If you're watching this video from my blog, I will include it in the transcription area. Or if you're watching it on YouTube, I'll put it in the site description area. You can click on those links and easily get a quote. And I've also posted my phone number if you'd rather just give me a call. So I hope you've learned what you need to know about SR22's. Thank you for watching and have a great day! I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. And in this video we're going to answer a frequently asked question: How long do you have to have an SR22 in Ohio? We're going to show you an easy way to quickly look up whether or not you need an SR22, and if so for how long. Slide 2: So, as far as the length of time you need to carry an SR22 …. not always, but the vast majority of drivers are required to carry an SR22 for three years. And it's very important that you know the exact expiration date of when those three years are up. Because if you cancel an SR22 filing too early, your license will be suspended again. And if you keep it going longer than you have to, you're probably paying more money than what you need to be. So I'm going to show you how to quickly find out whether or not you need an SR22. And if so, exactly for how long you need to carry it. Slide 3: Many drivers need an Ohio SR22 filing to reinstate their driver's license. An SR22 is not auto insurance itself. It simply attaches on to either an auto insurance policy or a Financial Responsibility Bond. Either one will get your license reinstated. It's basically the BMV’s way to keep dibs on you. To make sure you're carrying at least eight minimum liability auto insurance coverage. And they also keep track of you, to make sure you don't drop it during the time that you're required to carry an SR22. Slide 4: As I mentioned before, it's very important that you know the exact expiration date of your sr22 filing requirement. So the next few slides I'm going to show you exactly how to do that. We're going to visit the Ohio BMV's website. You'll come to a page to where you need to enter your birth date, driver's license number or state ID number, and the last four digits of your social number. So have those ready in case you don't have them memorized. Let's get started…. Slide 5 : The web address you see here in yellow. That’s the page you want to visit. It is not the Ohio BMV's home page. I skipped ahead of that and took you straight to the page that you're wanting to get to. I'm also going to include this in the description and transcription at the bottom. So that will make it easy for you to either click on or copy it and paste it. Slide 6: Then once you get to that page you should see a screen that looks like this. And I'll blow this up a little bit so you can see it better. Slide 7: So inside the box you'll see you have a choice of two options which ones to click on. Either one will show your SR22 information. But unless you need a three year copy of your driving record, I suggest you click on the bottom “unofficial” copy simply because it's free. If you click on the top link, they're going to charge you $5. Slide 8: On this next page you'll see the top tab “driver license” information. Simply fill that out and then click the “continue” button at the bottom of the page. And then you'll go to your results. Now, in the next two slides I've given you two different examples of results. The first slide is just going to have someone who does not need an SR22 filing. The second one, it is a driver who does need an SR22. That way you can see the difference between the two. Slide 9: So this is what it will look like if you do not need an SR22. You'll see it has license status as valid, no restrictions, and you don't see a tab heading “withdrawals” like you will on the next slide of somebody who needs an SR22. Slide 10: So for a driver that needs an SR22, the results page will look similar to this. You'll see where license status is suspended. And just to the right of that, you'll see a tab “view reinstatement requirements”. While you're at this page, it's probably not a bad idea to look at those real quick just to make sure there's nothing besides the SR22 filing that you need to take care of before they give you your license back. So anyways, here's what we're looking for in the “withdrawals” heading. You'll see it posted twice, up at the top, “FRA”. That stands for financial responsibility. I have no idea what the “A” stands for. But anyways, you see here that it's required until March 17th of 2020. And it'll say that again here at the bottom of the tab “FRA End”, same date. So that's how you find out exactly how long you need to carry an SR22 filing. Slide 11: So I hope you've learned from this video what you need to know about finding out your SR22 filing information with the state BMV. If you'd like for me to run a quote for you personally for a policy with an SR22, click on one of the two links that I've got listed here. I will also have them posted on the bottom of the blog, or the YouTube description page. Or, if you just have any questions or want to get a quote by phone, I've also posted my phone number. I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. And in this video, we're going to answer a frequently asked question: What is an Ohio SR22 bond? Slide 2: So what is an Ohio SR22 bond? I'm sure many of you have heard that term “SR22 bond” or “SR22 insurance”. The fact is they're both misleading terms. An SR22 is not a bond, nor is it auto insurance either. It's simply a state filing that attaches onto either a regular auto insurance policy or an Ohio financial responsibility bond. Slide 3: Here's the good part about what an SR22 filing does for you. When you buy an auto insurance policy or a financial responsibility bond that has an SR22 attached to it, the auto insurance company notifies the Ohio BMV that you have taken out an active SR22 filing. This SR22 is a guarantee to the BMV that you're carrying at least state minimum liability auto insurance coverage. Once the BMV processes your SR22 filing, your license will be reinstated (assuming you've paid all other fines and met all other requirements). Slide 4: Now here's the bad news about an SR22 filing. The easiest way to understand is what I call a “tattletale” ….. You need to keep this SR22 active for as long as the BMV requires you to carry it. And if you ever cancel on a policy or drop the SR22, the auto insurance company is required by law to “tattle” on you. That is, notify the BMV that the policy is canceled. Once this happens, your license is going to be suspended again until you have another active SR22 filing in place. Slide 5: Now I want to go over what an Ohio financial responsibility bond is. It's important that you understand that a financial responsibility bond is a special type of auto insurance policy that's designed for drivers who need auto insurance, but don't own a vehicle. And they're usually a lot cheaper than regular auto insurance. And the reason is because of the coverage. You'll see there, it offers state minimum liability coverage and nothing else. There are five major parts to a regular auto insurance policy. The bond will only cover you for one of those five, and that's at state minimum levels. And another thing, unlike regular auto insurance, coverage is only available for one driver. And that's the person named on the bond. Slide 6: It's important that you set up your SR22 filing properly. And it's very easy to do: If you own a vehicle or have a vehicle registered in your name, you simply need to take out a regular auto insurance policy and attach the SR22 filing on to it. And if you don't own a vehicle, then you just need to take out a Financial Responsibility Bond and again, the SR22 filing attaches onto it also. Now here's where the mistake is made: A lot of vehicle owners will settle for a financial responsibility bond instead of regular auto insurance because of the price. Or because they're driving record is so bad they can't afford regular auto insurance. I get it and I understand. But you need to understand that from a coverage standpoint this is a bad idea! And I'm going to explain why on the next slide. Slide 7: There are three major reasons why it's a bad idea to settle for a financial responsibility bond when you own a vehicle. Number one, state minimum liability level sucks for a vehicle owner! They’re good for a minor accident. But if you cause a serious accident with injuries, it's not going to be nearly enough coverage. Number two, as I mentioned before, you're missing four out of five major parts to an auto insurance policy: medical coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, comprehensive coverage, and collision coverage. All four of those are not offered on a bond. And number three, you can never allow anyone else to drive your vehicle with just a bond because it only covers one driver (the person named on the bond). This is where a lot of vehicle owners get into trouble. If you're only carrying a bond and you loan your vehicle out to somebody and they get pulled over, you're probably going to get in trouble. If they get in a major accident, then you're going to be in big trouble. Slide 8: Not all auto insurance companies will write SR22 filings and sell financial responsibility bonds. And of the companies that do, a lot of them charge an arm and a leg for SR22 filings. So your best bet is to find an independent agent who specializes in high-risk auto insurance. They carry multiple SR22 friendly companies to shop around for a lower rate. Slide 9: If you'd like more information about SR22 filings, I've included some links for my website put on here. Got a page for my SR22 auto insurance, just gives you a little more general information. Or if you'd like for me to run you a quote personally, I've also included links for both vehicle owners and non vehicle owners. I've also included all of these links at the bottom, if you need to click on there. And also, if you'd rather just give me a call, I've also listed my phone number. Thanks for watching. And have a great day! Transcription: Slide 1: Hello! I'm Dan Lyles with Lyles Insurance. And in this video, we're going to go over tips for buying insurance on sports memorabilia. Slide 2 : As collecting sports memorabilia continues to become more popular, the value of collections that buyers acquire continues to go up as well. And finding the right insurance on those collections becomes much more important, just like it would be if you were to insure any type of collectible. Slide 3: And likewise, it's important to insure sports memorabilia collections that have high value, just like it would be to insure any type of property with high value. However, when insuring collectibles, you've got to do it properly. Which involves making the right choices versus wrong choices. If you're not aware of the pitfalls to look out for, it's easy to make the wrong choice. Slide 4: First, let's go over the wrong way to insure collectible items. Insuring collectibles as attached scheduled items on a homeowners or renters insurance policy has many shortcomings. And this is where most people make the mistake. There are several problems with an attached policy. It has exclusions that are not found on a good collectibles policy. They only pay claims on an actual cash value basis, meaning just its market value. It almost always has a deductible. Very few policies will ever offer a zero deductible policy if it's attached to another policy. And it doesn't offer additional coverages that a good collectibles policy does. Slide 5: So now let's go over the right way to insure collectibles. A standalone exclusive collectibles policy offers much better coverage than one that's attached to another policy. And like I mentioned before, there is little to no difference in premium between a good policy and a lousy one. So it makes it a no-brainer to go with better coverage for about the same price. Slide 6: Here are some reasons why an exclusive collectibles policy beats an attached policy. It pays claims on an agreed value coverage basis, which means you know up front exactly what your items are being insured for. It offers zero deductible option, which of course is your out-of-pocket expense. It does not have those crazy exclusions that you'll see on an attached homeowners or renters policy for collectibles items. They offer extra types of coverage that you won't get on an attached policy. And you don't have those maximum coverage limits like many attached policies do. Slide 7: Now there are several very good companies out there who will offer standalone collectibles insurance with the right coverages for the right price. My personal favorite happens to be American Collectors Insurance. Now I'm a little biased because my agency has carried them for several years. But I'm very happy with them. They're the leading company in collectibles insurance. And they offer all the top coverages for very little premium. And as you see here, the yearly premium is usually less than 1% of the total insured value. Slide 8: Here are some other major benefits of insuring with American Collectors Insurance. First, they have excellent claims handling service by people who specialize in collectibles. They don't require appraisals where most collectors companies do. They offer inflation guard protection in which your actual agreed value coverage increases yearly. This is a big one because it helps offset inflation. And it will also help if you have an item that appreciates in value. And they cover things that a lot of attached lousy policies won't cover. Examples include accidental breakage, fire, flood, theft, hurricane, earthquake and other things. You've got to look on the policy to see what's covered and what's not to really tell the difference between a good policy and a lousy one. And also, American collectors insurance provides coverage while your items are being shipped, stored outside of your residence, or used for special occasions. Slide 9: So I hope you've learned something from this video that will help you make the right choice in finding insurance for sports memorabilia. If you'd like some more information I've included links to my collectibles insurance page. And also, for those of you who live in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West Virginia: If you would like for me to run you a quote personally, I've also included a link to get a quote as well. And at the bottom, I've also posted my phone number if you'd like to just give me a call. Thanks for watching and have a great day! |
